More exam success for Peterborough Music School students in the spring! We had 17 drum students take their Yamaha music exams a few weeks ago and we are proud to say that everyone passed. All of the Yamaha exams are assessed and accredited by the RSL exam board.
Special mention must go to Seb Scaife who passed his grade 8 RSL exam with Distinction. Here is one of the classes with their certificates and Seb with his teacher Simon:
We are delighted to have British drum legend Steve White returning to Peterborough Music School to present a drum masterclass on Sunday 14th October. Steve officially opened our new building back in 2016 and amazed the invited audience with a short 20 minute drum solo. This time he will be presenting a full 60 minute masterclass with a Q & A session at the end.
Steve was Paul Weller’s drummer of choice for over 20 years in both the Style Council and when he went solo, recording albums such as Stanley Road, Wild Wood and Heavy Soul. Steve has also played in The Who, Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene and many others.
Tickets are now on sale at Peterborough Music School priced at £10 each.
Yamaha instrument classes have now broken up for the summer holidays. They will restart on Saturday 1st September.
Rising Stars musical theatre classes will continue throughout the summer (please note that Wednesday classes have moved to Thursday evenings for the holidays only).
On Friday 26th January Peterborough Music School hosted a masterclass with One Direction and JP Cooper bass guitarist Sandy Beales. The event was part of a week long tour round several Yamaha Music Schools, organised by Yamaha and ACM. Sandy not only demonstrated his skills on the bass guitar but offered a great insight into the life of a session musician, touring the world with one of the biggest groups of recent years. The students certainly came away inspired.
